Which kitchen mixer tap should I choose?

When choosing, consider mainly the shape of the sink, installation method and required functions: Deck-mounted mixer taps – the most common choice, installed directly into the sink or worktop. Wall-mounted mixer taps – designed for installation into the wall (with a spacing of 100 or 150 mm). Functional types – practical options include models with a pull-out spray or a filtration system.

Is a kitchen mixer tap with a pull-out spray better than one without?

A kitchen mixer tap with a pull-out spray allows easy filling of pots even outside the sink, rinsing the entire sink and washing large baking trays. It is practical and ideal for larger sinks. A kitchen mixer tap without a spray is cheaper and has a simpler construction without a pull-out hose.

How to install a kitchen mixer tap?

Turn off the main water supply. Screw the flexible hoses and fixing rod into the mixer tap body. Place the mixer tap with the seal into the sink opening. Secure it from underneath using the washer and nut. Connect the flexible hoses to the angle valves and check for leaks.

How to maintain a kitchen mixer tap?

Wipe the mixer tap regularly with a soft microfiber cloth and soapy water. Avoid abrasive products, aggressive cleaners and scouring pads, which can damage the surface. Unscrew the aerator from time to time and soak it in a vinegar solution to help remove limescale.

How to replace a kitchen mixer tap?

Turn off the water supply, release the pressure and disconnect the flexible hoses from the angle valves. Unscrew the fixing nut from underneath the sink, pull the mixer tap upwards, clean the installation opening and install the new mixer tap.

What is the difference between a kitchen mixer tap and a washbasin mixer tap?

A kitchen mixer tap usually has a higher construction, a longer spout and often a swivel spout (commonly 180° to 360°), allowing large pots to fit underneath. A washbasin mixer tap is usually lower, fixed and directs water directly into the centre of the washbasin.

What diameter opening is required for a kitchen mixer tap?

The standard diameter of the installation hole for a deck-mounted kitchen mixer tap is 35 mm . This size is standard for most sinks and kitchen worktops.

Is it better to choose a classic kitchen mixer tap or one with a filtration function?

A classic mixer tap is ideal if you are satisfied with the quality of your tap water. A filtration mixer tap removes chlorine, limescale and heavy metals from water and improves its taste without the need to buy bottled water.

Which mixer tap should I choose if the sink is located under a window?

Choose special under-window mixer taps , which can be foldable, retractable or removable. A foldable mixer tap can simply be tilted forward into the sink, a retractable one can be pushed down into the worktop, and a removable one can be lifted out of the base and placed aside.
